My approach to health coaching is a holistic approach. I look at how all the areas of your life are connected. You might be overeating because you are experiencing stress at work, or in your relationship. If you find yourself skipping exercise, lack of sleep or low energy might be the culprit. And so on.

We’ll take a close look at all areas of your life, and see how they are affecting your health and well-being.

One of my favorite things to do is to help my clients get in touch with their bodies. Your body tells you what you are in need of - you just have to pay attention to what it is telling you by quieting the chatter in your mind! You’ll learn self-awareness, and you’ll learn how to make good decisions for yourself. Each person can be their own expert, and each of us is capable of making well-informed decisions, and not just following the latest wellness trend. You already have it in you; you just need to learn how to listen to your deepest and most authentic self!

Let’s uncover what you value most for your well-being. From that place, we’ll co-create goals that bring you closer to where you want to be, to who you want to be. These goals will have actionable steps and will be time-bound, so you know exactly what you are working toward.

In working together, we will explore a variety of wellness concepts, some of which were developed by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

BALANCED NUTRITION

We’ll focus on incorporating organic foods that are whole and not processed in a factory, we’ll strive to buy local produce, we’ll choose high-quality proteins and healthy fats, and we’ll prioritize drinking plenty of water. We’ll be mindful of portions and of proportions – we’ll strive for your plate to be half to ¾ full with veggies and fruit. We’ll explore some of the healthiest foods and you’ll learn how to find what’s the best approach for your unique body!

LIFESTYLE

Our well-being is not only affected by what we eat. Our sense of nourishment and fulfillment comes not just from food, but also from a variety of other attributes such as healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and spiritual awareness, to name just a few. When these attributes of our lives are balanced, food actually becomes secondary. I will help you to define and then achieve your goals, from the basics such as choosing the right foods for your body, to the big picture - living your best, most fulfilling life.

BIO-INDIVIDUALITY

Each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. What might agree with me and make me healthy might not benefit your health, and could be downright toxic for you. This helps to explain why fad diets typically fail in the long run. In our work together, we’ll keep bio-individuality in mind, and I’ll support as you make changes that are based on your unique body, genetics, lifestyle and preferences.

CROWDING OUT

The traditional approach in the field of nutrition is often to give clients a group of foods to avoid and other foods that must be substituted, and that can create a feeling of lack - a sense of deprivation. I use a different approach – I encourage you to eat and drink foods that are good for you, and over time your attachment to unhealthy foods will wane, along with the room you have for them in your diet and your life. We will crowd unhealthy foods out of your diet! Although this will take some practice, I will support you throughout this process.

food cravings

UNDERSTANDING CRAVINGS

Did you know when you have a craving, your body is actually trying to tell you something? You’ll learn how to understand such cravings and to not ignore them. These cravings are a cry out from your body telling you it is in need of something. You will develop an understanding of the cravings you experience, and with that understanding you will be in a position to achieve meet your needs in a balanced and harmonious way.

The most significant overall change I have noticed has been more awareness of how the choices I make affect not only my physical health but also my mental health.
