During the course of my health coaching training with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I learned highly effective and practical lifestyle coaching methods, and studied a variety of dietary theories.

Prior to that, I had another, very different career in the food industry, as a regulatory compliance expert.

As a regulatory professional, I was charged with ensuring the food products manufactured by the companies I worked for met all the food laws and regulations applicable to those products. I advised corporate marketing teams on what sort of language and claims they could and could not make about a product, so that the language would be truthful and not a misleading representation of the product. I also advised research and development teams on what kinds of ingredients they could and could not use in the products they were creating, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. I hold a bachelor’s degree in food engineering and a master’s degree in food science. My life then consisted of helping big corporations manufacture highly processed foods and sell those to as many people as possible.

It was during my time in the corporate food industry that I started to realize just how aggressive that industry can be, and how hard it tries to work around laws and regulations to make products as attractive and addictive as possible, so that consumers will buy them over and over again. It became difficult to be in an environment where the company’s bottom line - profits - was the only thing that mattered. As to whether these food products we were creating and selling were actually healthy – these conversations were not happening.  As a regulatory professional, I knew for a fact what was exactly in those products - a lot of unhealthy, oftentimes artificial ingredients.

I began to have a hard time coping with these industry practices. I was also becoming more and more personally unhealthy. I gained significant weight and felt sluggish, with diminishing energy and enthusiasm for my life.

  Something needed to change!

I searched for ways to regain my healthy life and happy weight, and started learning more and more about wellness and alternatives to Western medicine. It became clear to me that there is an entirely different way to approach health, where the goal is to address the root causes of illnesses, rather than the symptoms that Western medicine focuses upon.

As I delved more and more into this alternative approach to health, I became committed to changing my career. I decided to make a 180-degree turn and work on the other side of the spectrum of the food system. I made the commitment to become a health coach and to advocate for whole, unprocessed foods!

So, I took a leap of faith, out of the corporate world and into the healthy and positive revolution that is the modern food movement, with the desire to help as many people as possible become healthy and happy!

I now advocate for healthy, unprocessed foods, and for a holistic lifestyle that encompasses all aspects of health and wellness – from having a career you love, to nurturing healthy relationships, having restful sleep, finding time for movement and play, and many, many other facets that constitute a well lived, happy life.

Using my knowledge, training and experience, I will work with you and together we will create actions that align to your goals. Step by step, you will bring your vision of health and wellness within reach. That vision will be uniquely yours, tailored to your body, your needs, your preferences and your resources.
